Lost Memory

Postby ms » Sat Jun 08, 2002 12:54 pm

This doesn't really seem to be a problem, but it's a percieved problem at least with some of the people I do work for, and I need a good answer to tell them (and an accurate one, last time I made something up to shut up a client I ended up getting in trouble ;) .

Anyhow, after I upgrade the kernel and whatnot, /proc/meminfo shows, on average, around 25 meg of memory to be "missing" than from what the unpatched kernel will display. What exactly is the cause of this, so I can get these angry people off my back?

25mb difference where? Paste some output that we can look at. Also, were the patched and unpatched kernel versions the same?
