Firefox 49.0.5 broken with grsec? / - segfault

Postby deadpoollucky » Wed Nov 16, 2016 1:16 pm

OS: Debian unstable /sid
Kernel:4.7.0-1-grsec-686-pae
Grsec-patch: grsec 201610161
Firefox: 49.0.5

Syslog:

firefox[1730]: segfault at 0 ip 9c59545c sp b5846270 error 4 in libgobject-2.0.so.0.5000.2[9c589000+5c000

debianschleppi2 kernel: [ 689.884726] grsec: Segmentation faul occurred at (nil) in /usr/lib/firefox/firefox[firefox:1730] uid/euid:1000/1000 gid/egid:1000/1000, parent /usr/bin/lxpanel[lxpanel:1177] uid/euid:1000/1000 gid/egid:1000/1000

Did:
strace -f -ff -o firefox -e mmap,munmap,mprotect,open firefox

(firefox:1691): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_ref: assertion 'object->ref_count > 0' failed
ExceptionHandler::WaitForContinueSignal waiting for continue signal...
ExceptionHandler::GenerateDump cloned child 1708
ExceptionHandler::SendContinueSignalToChild sent continue signal to child
Gtk-Message: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is discouraged.

I think its maybe a problem with webkit, but in the syslog you see that gresec is unhappy.
I did on both files --> /user/bin/firefox/firefox and --> /user/bin/firefox/plugin-container
this command --> paxctl -cm.
Any clue why firefox isnt running? It only shows the crash gui an thats it……...

best regards Deadpool

Hi Deadpool!)))
Executable file is there: /user/bin/firefox/firefox?
if so, type "strace -ff -o firefox /user/bin/firefox/firefox" and attach output.
Plz, show output of "mount".
What is the result of the execution paxctl -v /user/bin/firefox/firefox?
Starting Firefox under root is successful?

I'm running Debian unstable on 4.8.8 with 201611150756 and firefox behaves fine as usual. I didn't change any of the permissions.
