grsecurity and debian 3.0/kernel 2.4.19

Postby maynard » Sat Aug 10, 2002 8:51 am

Have just installed debian and downloaded kernel 2.4.19 and applied grsecurity 1.9.6. I'm running with security level HIGH but whenever i load the securified kernel all my apt utils stop working they just hang ussualy at: Reading package list, using all cpu resources up. Anyone have an idea to what is causing this ?

Regards

It's a bug with the new version of PaX. The PaX team is still working on a fix. We need people who want to help fix the bug by submitting strace logs and dumps of /proc/<pid>/maps.

Sent. Hope it doesn't take too many headaches to fix this problem. =)

I tried tracing it on several machines and the results seemed to all be mostly identical, so I only sent one set.
