Is it possible to have say /home hidden but /home/user not hidden on a per user basis? If yes, how do you do it? It seems when I try it, everything gets hidden.

don't think so. I mean, think of it. If /home is hidden how can users cd into /home/something?
You can of course hide all others dirs but one in /home, i think that is what you want.

Yeah I thought about that. The problem is that you could be talking about thousands or directories.
