How safe is default grsecurity

Postby dwchan69 » Sun Aug 10, 2003 12:07 pm

I am new to the grsecurity patch. I need to harden 3 of my Linux RedHat 9.0 Servers to perform 3 basic task (DNS - Bind 9.#, FTP - vsftpd, and News - Dnews). What setting for the grsecurity can I use (low, medium, high, custom) can I use when I recompile my kernel so I know the added security is not going to break any of the application

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know pax is not compatible (yet?) with glibc 2.3 and thus isn't usable with rhl 9.

there are many PaX users with glibc 2.3 and, to my knowledge, without problems. do you have more details on what would be the incompatibility?
